The first temple of the God of Wealth, the first choice for seeking wealth

The Origin of the First Fortune Hall

The First Temple of the God of Wealth (Lingshun Temple) was founded during the Xianhe period of the Eastern Jin Dynasty (326 AD). It was one of the five Lings built in Hangzhou by the Indian monk Huili, including Lingjiu Temple, Lingyin Temple, Lingfeng Temple, Lingshun Temple and Lingshan Temple. During the Northern Song Dynasty, Lingshun Temple began to be called the “Temple of the God of Wealth” because the “Five Manifestations of Wealth” were enshrined in the temple. In the Ming Dynasty, there was a “Huaguang Hall” in the temple, so it was also called the “Huaguang Temple” (Huaguang Bodhisattva is also known as the Five Manifestations Emperor, commonly known as the Horse King, who is also the God of Wealth). Xu Wenchang, a talented scholar in the Ming Dynasty, climbed the mountain to visit the temple and praised it highly, and left a calligraphy of “The First Temple of the God of Wealth in the World”. From then on, the title of Lingshun Temple resounded throughout the country.
